Social and organisational factors of students’ mastery of swimming skills

Objective of the study is to identify the socio-demographic and organisational factors of students’ mastery of swimming competences that reduce the risk of accidents.
Methods and structure of the study. A survey was conducted of 125 students of a management university from all years of study: 57 (47.7 %) women and 68 (52.3 %) men. The study was carried out by the method of cross-sectional design using a questionnaire that included questions relating to socio-demographic data, organisational factors and the level of swimming competences.
Results and conclusions. Students who mastered swimming skills before entering university possess better competences relating to safety on the water. Students in the senior years have a better command of the skills of sports and applied swimming. The priority in the sphere of safety on water bodies is the formation of the ability to perform applied techniques and actions.
