Powerlifting as an example of a socio-pedagogical system in strength sports

Objective of the study is to analyse the principal moments of the history of the emergence and development, and the foundations of the theory, methodology and methods of the training and competitive processes, of powerlifting, on the basis of which powerlifting can and should be regarded as a socio-pedagogical system of strength sport.
Methods and structure of the study. The research was organised in accordance with the norms and rules for the preparation and conduct of a descriptive study by the method of document analysis. The material is presented in the format of a scientific article.
Results and conclusions. The historical heterogeneity of the formation of powerlifting under different socio-ideological conditions predetermined the dominance of the American model, whereas the Russian system, having passed through late institutionalisation, ideological pressure and a change of context, today retains an internal contradictoriness as a natural reflection of the complexity of the social background itself.
